The Fast and Furious Young Entrepreneurs 2007 & 2008
The 2007 competition was organised by Peter Clothier and Bob Bell of the Enterprise Factory in conjunction with Carrie Marshall Enterprise Manager at North Chadderton School.
The Fast and Furious Young Entrepreneurs encouraged pupils 14-16 years old to develop business skills and entrepreneurship. Loosely based on the BBC show Dragons Den it Involved 9 schools across Oldham, whom had funding from Oldham Partnership to get a novel business idea in place. Some worked as teams and some as individuals too come up with business ideas formulated into business plans and prototypes if needed.
Bob Bell, Enterprise Factory business development manager said: Oldham's young people have the capability to put Oldham back on the map and prove that the town is at the fore-front of social and industrial change.
Carrie Marshall Enterprise Manger of North Chadderton School added: The secondary schools have responded really well to this competition they are excited and nervous about facing the dragons panel.
Each school had there own panel of dragons judging them culminating in 2 groups from each school being picked as winners. These made it through to the borough wide competition held at the Enterprise Factory where they were quizzed and grilled about there ideas from a panel of judges. (Businessmen, Sponsors, Employers: etc)
The Grand Finally was held at Queen Elizabeth Hall Wednesday 4th July at 7.00pm with the Major of Oldham Cllr Ann Wingate in attendance. A film was shown of the pupils battling it out through the various stages with comments from the Dragons ending with the winners names being announced.

Winner of Best Manufacturing idea: The Fruit People North Chadderton School
Dragons Discretionary award: Forget me not Failsworth School
The overall competition winner the best of the best went to Radclyffe School with The Enterprise shop which sells fair trade snacks and stationary.
All runners up received £100 Argos vouchers and a certificate, the winners received ipods and the overall winners Radclyffe School the Enterprise Shop received ipods and a trophy.
Alison Taylor enterprise co-ordinator at Radclyffe School said: the dedication and enthusiasm they've shown makes us all very proud.
Nick Hudson Of the council education department said: it was a fantastic success, all business that took part as dragons was praised for there help, the atmosphere was great.

 Fast and Furious Young Entreprenuers 2FAST AND FURIOUS 2

Following on from the success and the continued interest in the Fast and Furious Competition held in 2007, it was unanimously decided to expand the project and invite schools from the Borough of Rochdale to take part in the competition in 2008.
Individual heats took place at all the schools involved, with the winners going through to the final judging held at The Enterprise Factory in a Dragons Den style panel.
The finalists (5 Schools in total) were invited to the Bower Hotel, Chadderton Oldham for the Final Awards Ceremony; where they watched video footage of their progress to reach the final stage.
Amongst the distinguished Guest Entrepreneurs invited to attend and speak at this event included:
Zulf Ali (Queens Award for Enterprise winner) and Paul Merker & Jerry Mantalvanos of JPM Logistics (who won £100.000 on BBC's Dragons Den programme)
Crompton House School (Oldham) whose business idea of producing hi-fashion clothing won the "Best of the Best" Award. St. Cuthbert's (Rochdale) and North Chadderton School (Oldham) tied for second place, closely followed into third place by Failsworth School and the Bluecoat School (Oldham). Lloyds TSB (sponsors of the Fast and Furious Competition) presented the lucky winners with prizes which included iPods and Shopping Vouchers
The competition and event was organised by The Enterprise Factory. It was again hailed as another fantastic success.
